Leadership, Management and Education
Since 2010 the London School of Paediatrics has been running 'Leadership, Management and Education (LME)' training seminars, led by Dr Bob Klaber (paediatrician at Imperial) and a team of SpRs.
These sessions are monthly interactive training seminars, open to trainees of all grades, but particularly focused on supporting paediatric ST4-8 trainees in developing key competencies in leadership, management and education. They run from 6:30pm until 8:30pm and are a great opportunity to learn, and to meet and network with colleagues over a drink. The dates have been co-ordinated to be on the same day as the main RSM / London School of Paediatrics Training Days and it is hoped that many trainees will opt to attend both the day and the evening. There is a cost for the evenings of £10 and places need to be booked in advance through the RSM website. The dates confirmed for 2011-12 are:
- Monday 19 September 2011
- Thursday 13 October 2011
- Tuesday 15 November 2011
- Wednesday 7 December 2011
- Thursday 19 January 2012
- Wednesday 8 February 2012
- Monday 2 April 2012
- Tuesday 24 April 2012
- Wednesday 9 May 2012
- Monday 11 June 2012
- Tuesday 3 July 2012
The details of each event, and the on-line booking form can be found by clicking on 'Paediatrics & Child Health Section meetings' in the top right of this page.
The topics within the programme are based the Medical Leadership Competency Framework, the AoMRC Common Competencies Framework for Doctors, the RCPCH Level 1,2,3 Competency Framework and on some 'learning needs' focus groups (run in Jan 2010). These have been used to create a rolling programme which will run over 2½ to 3 years.
