Zoonoses - from wildlife to warfare meeting and student prize
Tuesday 2 February 2010
Venue: The Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE
The meeting will address the various micro-organisms that can cause zoonotic diseases (prions, viruses, bacteria, and parasites), the threat to the UK population from these, and the national processes in place to handle their emergence and control. A presentation on the history and rise of zoonoses will bring the meeting up to date with the current threats, and two presentations addressing the title of the meeting will outline the zoonotic disease threat from wild animals and how zoonotic organisms can be weaponised for use as "bioweapons".
