Applied therapeutics for palliative medicine - a course for doctors

A 6 day course organised by the Palliative Care Section and ITGPM
The aim of this course is to provide a robust grounding in all aspects of therapeutics in palliative medicine. Material is evidence based where possible so that participants become acquainted with the body of literature that relates to practice in this field.
Pharmacology is woven throughout the programme to ensure that participants have a thorough understanding of how drugs work and how they are handled by the body.
The course is highly interactive using a variety of teaching methods. The core group of tutors (Independent Teaching Group for Palliative Medicine, ITGPM) is supplemented by guest speakers.
Target audience:
Primarily aimed at 1st and 2nd year registrars in palliative medicine, but would be relevant for doctors training in oncology, care of the elderly and general practice.
Course leaders: Dr Yolande Saunders, Hillingdon Hospital and Dr Jon Martin, St Joseph's Hospice, both Consultants in Palliative Medicine.
The course fee covers all six days. No part-refunds or reduced fees are available.

Day 5: GI day: Mouth care; Nausea & vomiting; Constipation; Bowel obstruction; Prescribing in patients with liver failure. |
