***Delegates are invited to bring their own case histories to discuss in the morning group work. Please remember to bring along anonymised copies.***

The aim of the day is to promote an understanding of the problems experienced by refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and of how these problems can be addressed. Participants will be mostly GPs but will include students and other professionals from health and social care involved in the support of refugees and asylum seekers.

Learning outcomes for the day are as follows -

By the end of the day participants:
- Will have learned about the specific medical and related problems experienced by refugees and asylum seekers
- Will understand the nature, extent and clinical consequences of torture.
- Will understand the impact of the clinical issues of torture on the working lives of GPs and will have learned how they can respond better to challenges posed.
- Will have learned about the Royal Society of Medicine, Medical Justice and Freedom from Torture.
