AIMS: To enhance understanding and knowledge of common problems in sports medicine, infectious disease and haematology which present to the Emergency Department.
OBJECTIVES : At the end of the meeting participants will understand the diagnosis, investigation and management of common injuries and illnesses in sportspeople.
Understand the role of the physiotherapist in the Emergency Department and how their skills can be best utilised to improve patient care.
Increase knowledge of emerging infectious diseases and the approach to the traveller who presents to the ED.
Understand the evidence behind the use of MEWS in the pre-hospital setting.
Learn current best practice for management of thromboembolic disease and haematological emergencies.
