The aim of this symposium is to examine various aspects of nutrition in critically ill patients. This is a field in which there have been important advances in research, leading to a better understanding of the nutritional and metabolic demands of the critically ill and new approaches to management. The meeting is part of the RSM's Bench to Bedside series, in which advances in basic and clinical research and their translation into clinical practice are examined.
