Ibuprofen Experts' Forum: Over four decades of ibuprofen use
Tuesday 18 September 2007
Venue: The Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE
The Ibuprofen Experts' Forum marks 45 years of ibuprofen use and brings together a group of eminent experts to discuss the extensive evidence base for the use of ibuprofen and its novel therapeutic benefits currently under investigation. The scientific programme consisting of presentations, interactive discussions and an open debate reviews the latest developments in ibuprofen research including key efficacy and safety data, and assesses the impact of these findings on future clinical practice.
The half-day meeting will provide an opportunity to review the efficacy and safety data for ibuprofen, especially in view of its transition from prescription to over-the-counter (OTC) use. The meeting will address key safety considerations for both OTC and prescription doses of ibuprofen. Its scope includes an evaluation of the risk of cardiovascular and gastrointestinal events, and investigates other areas of potential concern particularly in the paediatric populations such as asthma, renal safety and skin reactions. As well as focussing on current applications of ibuprofen, the meeting will also introduce the evolving evidence for novel uses of ibuprofen.
The meeting will valuable to both physicians and scientists with a broad interest in anti-inflammatory-, analgesic- and antipyretic-use across a varied population of patients and therapy areas.
