The
ALARM subscription year runs from 1st April to 31st March each year.
Benefits
of ALARM Membership

The named representative/s of the organisation or their nominated representative, may attend each of three ALARM meetings per year held at the Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street. The programmes cover issues relating to legal claims, risk management and patient safety, complaints handling, corporate and clinical governance and controls assurance.(The nominated members attends at no charge.)

There are currently four active regional groups run by ALARM members in various parts of the country, also a specialist London group for risk managers and a specialist group for legally qualified claims managers. These groups organise their own meetings for locally based members. There is no charge for attendance at these meetings.

The ALARM newsletter is circulated to members 3 times per year together with other ALARM mailings.

ALARM member representatives are able to access the on-line edition of the RSM Press Clinical Risk journal at no charge and are able to order a paper copy of the journal at a greatly reduced price. There is an ALARM website at www.alarmhealthcare.org.

A few organisations offer a discount on their conference rates for ALARM members who work in the NHS. AvMA offers a discount, also the Health and Social Care Quality Network and Healthcare Events.

Some relevant publishers offer a discount to ALARM members (Witherbys, specialist publishers, will offer a discount for relevant titles.)

Members can ‘opt in’ to an ALARM electronic ‘address book’ which provides an opportunity for a member representative to benefit from other members’ experience and expertise.
Additional Named Representatives:
The organisation can choose to nominate additional named representatives at a cost of currently £150 plus VAT per additional representative per year, (pro-rata reduced rate during the year). These additional representatives are entitled to receive all the ALARM member benefits listed above.
Ad hoc attendance at ALARM Meetings for Member organisations.
Organisations not wishing to have more than two named members may opt to send additional staff members to ALARM meetings at a one off cost of £100 plus VAT per meeting per additional person. This ad hoc attendance is dependent on there being places available at the relevant meeting and is not normally available for non-members.
