Library Membership
Everyone who is a Member or Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine is automatically a member of the Library. You will simply need to show your RSM Membership card upon entering the Library or quote your RSM Membership number when using any services.
The Library offers the following types of Membership to those who aren't Members or Fellows of the RSM:
Library Corporate Membership
The following RSM Library Services can be used by any member of your organisation:
- Access to the RSM Library Collection
- Free loan of books and journals
- On-site only electronic journals and databases
- Full range of document delivery and inter-library loan services
- Literature searches and enquiry service
- Current awareness service (EMUs - Electronic Monthly Updates)
- Self-service printing and photocopying
- Information Skills workshops
- Database tutorials
- Library tours
- Access to the out of hours IT Study Centre
- Meeting and training room hire
- Weekly Jabs (current awareness newsletter)
Library Corporate Membership rates:
- Corporate Membership: £800 per year
- Corporate Membership (not for profit organisation): £100 per year
Membership is per site. Subsequent sites are charged at half the annual subscription.

Individual Library Membership rate:
Medical: £403 per year
Non-medical: £176 per year

Temporary Library Membership
(Available to members of the public)
This allows access to the Library collection for reference purposes only. Additional services are charged at non-Member rate.
Please enquire at the Library Issue Desk on arrival in the Library.
To make use of this 'drop in' Membership you will need to provide two proofs of identification:
- One which confirms your name and address and must be dated within the last two months, e.g. utilities bill, credit card or bank statement, rent book
- One which confirms your name and signature, e.g. driving licence, passport, bankers/credit card.
