Description of Pathology Section meetings
Pathology is a vital part of the etiology and pathogenesis of medical conditions and as such it is a vital part in the practice and development of modern medical practice. The Pathology Section aims to provide meetings that help update and teach practicing medical professionals, trainees and students in order to help them provide a better service and develop medical practice. All meetings are CPD accredited.
Pathology is also an import tool in biological, forensic, medical-legal and sports environments and the Pathology Section aims to cover these topics as well. The section runs about 3 meetings a year as well as other joint meetings with other sections of the RSM. The Pathology Society also plays a large part in the revision series run by Students and Trainees sections.
Meetings for the 2011-2012 academic year
Thursday 8 December 2011
POST OPERATIVE DEATHS
Venue: The Royal Society of Medicine
As more and more interventions are being carried out on an increasingly elderly population with multi-organ pathology it is important that the complications that can arise should be investigated and thoroughly understood from a pathophysiological point of view. These complications can often lead to medico-legal issues for hospitals so it is important that all members of staff are aware of procedures that should be followed to avoid these complications.
