A word from the Chair Elect

Dear friends and colleagues,

As the current Chair Elect of the Section, I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Neeraj Bhala and I am an epidemiologist at the Clinical Trial Service Unit in Oxford. I also thought I would use the time before I formally start in October to encourage further interactions with our Section's many members.

As well as the event on training in epidemiology and clinical trials in July which I hope to meet some of you at (and I would be grateful if you can circulate to interested colleagues http://www.rsm.ac.uk/academ/epb03.php), we have a varied programme planned for the next year. This includes wide-ranging events planned on pharmacoepidemiology, the effects of alcohol on chronic diseases, infectious diseases and the past, present and future of public health.

Furthermore, we are planning to collaborate more with groups, such as the RSM Global Health group and the Alcohol Health Alliance, both within and outside the RSM. If any of you have any thoughts on future meetings, or further work the Epidemiology and Public Health section should get engaged in, please let myself and the Council know via epidemiology@rsm.ac.uk. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Neeraj
